We've all lettered, added accents and/or pinstriped over a base coat or a candy paint job using enamel based striping paint. And we also know the adverse affects that can happen when the solvent-attack of the catalyzed clear coat reactivates or softens the enamel causing unwanted results. The Custom Shop striping materials are, I believe, a base coat formula adjusted for striping purposes and can be clear coated over without concern of the striping wrinkling, softening or being attacked by the solvent in the clear coats. However, having said all this, if your going to use it as a striping, lettering option to an enamel, Custom Shop recommends clear coating this material after application for color retention and longevity purposes. Try some, experiment and decide for yourself you can benefit for this option.
