I am spraying my whole car in this and did a test panel on the headlight cover to start - I quickly learned that you need to buy this paint with the "optional" reducer for it to spray nicely and not have excessive orange peel.
Even at 50-60psi with a 1.3 tip it was so thick and hard to spray, needed to be super close (4") from the panel for it to flow out and not have lots of orange peel. Knowing this, I went for it anyways and sprayed the engine bay, it turned out pretty good, though ran in a few spots nearly 5 minutes after laying it down - my fault as I'm a newbie painter and added to much paint in a concentrated area, but feel I could have been in more control with reducer. I ordered some reducer and look forward to seeing how it sprays, should be much easier to control. It was not hard to lay the metallic particles evenly so long as you have a consistent gun distance from the panel, though I assume I will struggle a bit more on large surfaces like the hood and doors, and will need to do a mist coat. I sprayed at 65F and the paint stayed open for a while, so I will give it some time to gel up a bit on the panel next time before trying a mist coat overtop.
Also, if your in Canada like I am, expect to pay around $130 in duties and brokerage charges from UPS. Total cost for this delivered was around $630CAD, and I just ordered the reducer off Amazon for another $100... Not exactly cheap, would have been better to go to my local Rondex store, but hey, it's a cool color! Spent…
