About TCP Global

Founded in 1974, TCP Global began as a small home decorating store in Lakeside, California. Over the past 50+ years, we've grown into a global e-commerce leader with a portfolio of 9+ specialty websites designed to meet the evolving demands of online shoppers.

With over 275,000 square feet of warehouse space across our Nevada and South Carolina fulfillment centers, we're equipped to process and ship orders efficiently — helping us serve customers across all seven continents.

TCP Global is home to the world’s largest online automotive paint color reference — the Auto Color Library. This extraordinary archive holds original OEM color standard chips for nearly every car make and model, dating all the way back to 1900 — and even as far back as the 1880s with color references for carriages and coaches.

Preserving Automotive Color History

Located at TCP Global’s Las Vegas headquarters, the Auto Color Library Room is a carefully curated archive of authentic automotive color history — more museum than storeroom. Inside, you'll find original paint cans, historic spray guns, vintage mixing tools, and color chips meticulously cataloged like rare books.

This unparalleled collection represents over 50 years of data-gathering from paint manufacturers (PPG, Dupont, Sherwin-Williams, R-M), retired industry reps, global travels, and classic car swap meets. It includes historic color standards from the days of Varnishes, Japan Lacquers, and early Enamels, and brands like Murphy Lacquer, Lincoln Lacquer, Dural, and Ditzler.

The Auto Color Library Room isn't just a workspace — it's a living, breathing tribute to the evolution of automotive color.

Meet the Man Behind the Colors

Jimmy “Chips” Wells

Jim Wells — better known as “Chips” — has been a cornerstone of the automotive coatings industry since the 1950s. A former top sales rep for PPG Ditzler and owner of multiple paint supply stores throughout the '70s and '80s, Jim has dedicated over 30 years to preserving and curating the Auto Color Library.

His lifetime of knowledge, combined with a passion for automotive history, has helped make the Auto Color Library the global resource it is today.
